Nate Holden Performing Arts Center (Los Angeles, CA)

Popping, locking, krumping, footwork, flexing, house, b-boying and more will go from the streets to the stage as Ebony Repertory Theatre’s DanceattheHolden presents the first ever Street Dance LA. Busting these moves will be three local street dance companies: Versa-Style Dance Company, Lux Aeterna and The Underground. A group of committed and conscientious artists, Versa-Style’s high-energy performances speak to the roots, history, and social and political issues surrounding street dance culture. Interdisciplinary dance, circus and physical theater company Lux Aeterna’s signature style pulls from such diverse sources as ballet, gymnastics, capoeira and b-boying. The Underground — led by founder-choreographer Marquisa “Miss Prissy” Gardner and co-choreographer Christopher “Lil ‘C'” Toler — uses a variety of styles from around the country, including krump, Chicago footwork, popping and flexing. Together they’ll make Street Dance LA as exciting as it is eye-opening.
