The Wilshire Ebell Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)

Black Angels Over Tuskegee, the Los Angeles historical drama turned Off-Broadway hit with a run starting in 2010 and still going strong, returns to the city where it all began with a performance at the Wilshire Ebell. Layon Gray’s play is the true story of six men embarking upon a journey to become Tuskegee Airmen in the United States Army Air Forces. The play explores their collective struggle with Jim Crow laws, their intelligence, their patriotism, their dreams of an inclusive fair society and the brotherhood they found in each other as they persevered — and excelled — in the face of the enormous obstacles acting against them. TV’s Lamman Rucker (Why Did I Get Married) stars in the play, and members of the Los Angeles chapter of Tuskegee Airmen will be present at the Wilshire Ebell to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the Tuskegee Airmen’s founding.
