It’s going to be a jazz explosion on the Hollywood Bowl stage when New Orleans pianist Dr. John pays loving tribute to New Orleans’ most famous son, the great Satchmo. From “Mack the Knife,” “When the Saints” and “Wonderful World” to his other lesser-known but seminal works, Dr. John and friends bring Pops’ world to life with gritty, swamp-style grooves and some unexpected renditions. Plenty of special guests will be on hand to help put on a great show in honor of the legendary Armstrong, including The Blind Boys of Alabama, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Telmary Diaz, Anthony Hamilton, Terence Blanchard, Arturo Sandoval and many more.
