The LIGHT photographic series offer a unique perspective on nightlife in Toronto and New York City. Alexei takes long-exposure shots focusing on the light; from streetcars to neon signs, and digitally manipulates the resulting images, creating entirely new urban landscapes. “it’s a conversation with the city”, he says. Finished prints first undergo more than 60 hours of editing as Alexei looks for patterns to highlight highlight and hidden details to bring to the surface. The large size of Alexei’s prints allows for endless exploration and interpretation.
