Attention, boys and girls; class is now in session at Animal High School, Home of the Beasts. On your first visit to campus, you’ll meet HipHop Harry Hare, the egotistical football captain who gets a kick out of teasing the small but spunky Teddy Tortoise. They’re the stars of the Nine O’Clock Players’ new spin on Aesop’s classic fable The Tortoise & the Hare. Tired of the bullying, Teddy devises a plan to unite all his fellow students and, with any luck, put a stop to Harry’s harassment. The tortoise proposes — you guessed it — a foot race to put the hare in his place. It’s the school’s top athlete versus the top mathlete. The musical children’s theater production follows Teddy as he trains and watches Harry as he loafs. Who’ll cross the finish line first and, more importantly, will the bullying ever stop?
