Cynthia Alberto, the founder and director of Brooklyn’s Weaving Hand, a studio and healing arts centre that embraces global weaving traditions, joins Kapisanan and Kapwa Collective in Toronto for a unique dialogue on traditional and contemporary Philippine weaving, as well as a hands-on weaving workshop!
Be inspired by Philippine textiles and express yourself in your own woven creation made on a backstrap loom. Participants are also encouraged to bring pictures of images that inspire them. Weaving materials, light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
This event is open to all ages, but we do kindly ask that children under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult.
We regret that our venue is not wheelchair accessible. Participants will also be expected to sit on the floor for an extended period of time, and while mats will be made available, participants are welcome to bring their own.
