Performer Melissa Ritz sings and taps her way through this one-woman show based on the true-life story of ’30s era big-band entertainer Ina Ray Hutton, as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Ritz won the Best Emerging Actress award at the United Solo Theater Festival in New York for Journey of a Bombshell, which traces Hutton’s groundbreaking career from her debut on Broadway and The Ziegfeld Follies, to leading her own all-girl orchestra, the Melodears. She was even the first woman to star in her own TV variety show on KTLA in the ’50s. But all the while she was hiding a controversial family secret. Ritz, an Air Force veteran, researched and wrote this show, now coming to The Complex Theatres Hollywood.
