You can thank Keith Sweat for the romantic R&B slow jam and for the popularity of the New Jack Swing genre — he’s a master of both. His 1987 debut solo album, Make It Last Forever, sold three million copies and featured the hit song “I Want Her,” which sailed to No. 1 on the R&B charts and No. 5 on the Pop charts. His other hits include “(There You Go) Telling Me No,” “Why Me Baby,” “Keep it Comin’,” “Twisted,” “Just A Touch,” “I’m Not Ready” and more. He’s sold more than 25 million records over his career, and in his Twitter bio he refers to himself as “one of the Godfathers of R&B.” He’ll be headlining the Summer Breeze Festival at the Queen Mary Events Park, along with other artists including K-Ci & JoJo (“All My Life,” “Tell Me It’s Real”), Jon B. (“They Don’t Know”), Color Me Badd (“All 4 Love,” “I Adore Mi Amor”) and Al B. Sure! (“Nite and Day”).
