L.A.’s Ladies of Salsa bring their vibrant, dance floor-ready Latin sounds to the stage to kick off the ongoing Third Thursday Salsa series at Grand Annex in San Pedro. Founded by Afro-Cuban percussionist Melena, this all-women band highlights the talents of some of the city’s top female salsa musicians. The band — featuring vocals, percussion, trombone and flute — specializes in traditional Salsa and Afro-Cuban jazz and they’re dedicated to sharing the cultural roots and contemporary twists of these energetic and colorful genres. Before the ladies take the stage, break in your dancing shoes with a salsa lesson from dance instructor Josie Neglia.
