"The Best of Enemies"

Meet Ann, an African-American civil rights activist, and C.P., the Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan. They are forced to work together by the federal government to achieve integration in their small North Carolina town 15 years after the Brown v. Board of Education decision. Clearly, they will never be friends, but over the course of Mark St. Germain’s play The Best of Enemies, they discover all the things they have in common, and ultimately forge an alliance based on respect and trust. It all seems impossible to believe — except it’s based on a true story. Inspired by Osha Gray Davidson’s acclaimed 2007 book of the same name, The Best of Enemies has been hailed as “one of the most important historical plays about America to ever reach the stage” by The New York Times. This potent drama about school desegregation and unexpected solidarity comes to Burbank’s Colony Theatre.
