Glendale Youth Orchestra’s 27th Season Opener at the Alex

A movie palace becomes a musical temple when the Alex Theatre hosts the Glendale Youth Orchestra’s season-opening concert. The program includes Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3 (performed by Anna Gong, violin), Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished) and Debussy’s Petite Suite. Fifteen-year-old Anna Gong of Pasadena is the concertmaster. Daughter of acclaimed violinist Bing Wang of the Los Angeles Phil, Gong has already won numerous string competitions and is also the concertmaster of the Harvard Westlake Middle School Symphony.
