Independent filmmaking in Vancouver in the 1960s and 1970s was characterized largely by a willingness to experiment: with form, with narrative, with different filmmaking techniques. We wanted to explore this fertile period and create a program that captures the eclectic nature of these films while not being bound to a straightforward survey of canonical works. Our intention is less to contest the canon than it is to recontextualize it through our own interpretation.
All works will be shown on 16mm!
