The Newport Beach Boat Parade Of Lights is the premier Christmas event not only for Los Angeles but Southern California. With over 103 years of history, the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade is viewed by over a million and half people each year. Newport Harbor comes alive with decorations and Christmas lights each holiday season. Homes, yachts, docks whole landscapes are transformed into a magical holiday experience. Newport Beach begins its holiday decorations after Thanksgiving and by the first of December the harbor is richly illuminated with thousands of lights and hundreds of themed estates. 
Two competitions take place during the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, the first are the ships and entrants in the parade competition.  Newport Beach boat owners take this competition for seriously and for top bragging rights and award winners, they have spent in excess of $50,000 on light displays and décor on just a single yacht.  Not to be outdone bay front estates compete in their own competition during the parade called the “Ring Of Lights”.
