It is alleged that:
– at approximately 2 p.m., two women approached the paid-duty officer and advised him that they were being followed by a man
– the officer investigated the man and obtained his name and address
– the two women left prior to being interviewed by the officer, so the officer could not form any grounds to believe the man had committed any criminal offence
On Saturday, May 7, 2011, the same officer returned to regular duties.
The officer completed a police report regarding the above incident and conducted a detailed investigation of the identified man.
It is alleged that:
– the officer discovered the man had been named in an incident that occurred two hours before his contact with the man at the paid-duty site,
– the officer also became aware of the sexual assault allegation that occurred two hours later at the Seneca@York Campus
On Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 2 p.m., the man was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault in relation to the Seneca@York Campus occurrence and Indecent Exposure in relation to an offence that the officer learned about, during his investigation, that is alleged to have occurred on Thursday, May 5, 2011.
The accused, 30, who resides near the university, is not a student of Seneca@York.
The name of the accused is not being released for investigative reasons.
