The Indian cricket celebrity Yuvraj Singh returned home on Monday morning to see hundreds of fans including family members and friends present at the airport to welcome him home.
Singh was under treatment of rare type of cancer and had to go through three chemotherapy sessions to recover and come back to India from United States, where he was getting his treatment from past several months. The first ones to greet the celebrity and the fighter at the Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi was his mother Shabnam who welcomed his son with arms wide open and the two sprinted off to their home place in Gurgaon in no time.
Yuvraj’s father spoke to the media and said, “I salute the fighter, the soldier Yuvraj Singh. Today, I am a proud father. Before last year’s World Cup, he told me that ‘dad, winning the Cup is very important`. He told me that whatever happens to him won’t matter, but ‘if we win the Cup, it will be a great achievement, which will make the whole country proud. He is a rare person. He is a gem and any parent will be proud to have such a son. Not many know that his condition was not good during the World Cup. Sometimes, he used to vomit blood but he was determined to lift the Cup for the country. Over the next few days, he will himself tell everything to the media.”
