Spend part of Memorial Day weekend listening to the jazz in the open air at the 4th Annual Jazzy Jam 2012 in Pasadena’s Central Park. An Education for Empowerment benefit concert, this year’s Jazzy Jam boasts performances from Grammy-winning smooth jazz saxophonist Kirk Whalum (“It’s What I Do”), ’70s soul/funk/R&B tribute band Gee Mack and the Polyester Players, the Latin rhythms of the Paris Escovedo Project, vocalists Romaine Jones & Jasmine Colbert, the Greater L.A. Cathedral Choir (G.L.A.C.C.) and more. Included in the festivities will be tributes to Whitney Houston, Vesta Williams and Teena Marie. Radio personality Pat Prescott (94.7 the Wave’s Pat Prescott in the Morning) hosts.
