“success has many friends, failure is lonely” – shah rukh khan

From Baadshah to King, Shah Rukh Khan is referred with several titles that undoubtedly portray his immense stardom across the country and globe. While he is a superstar now, he was once a simple man who was brought up in a middle class family in Delhi. His journey has been inspiring one from a TV star to an award winning Bollywood megastar. Amidst his long journey, the actor has obviously seen his share of ups and downs and in one of the interviews he confessed about his first failure.

Reminiscing about his school days at St. Columbia in Delhi, Shah Rukh Khan revealed about a childhood experience that taught him about failure and success. He was one of the most popular athletes of his batch and this was one of those sports competitions where he was pitted against his seniors. “I remember running a 100 meter race in school against boys who were a little older than me. Till that point, I’d been running with boys my age and I was used to being in the lead.”

The actor went on state that losing in it, taught him a lesson or two about success and failure. “I came fifth out of six or seven boys. As soon as the race was over, the school officials rushed over to the winners and whisked them off to the podium.” Describing it as the emptiest feeling, Shah Rukh Khan added, “There were people around but no one came to me.”

“It was depressing. Not the kind that makes you feel like crying or sad. That comes later. Failure is something you face alone. Success has a lot of masters, friends and well-wishers. Failure is lonely, but still is as textured as success”, adds Khan as he remembers his lesson learnt.

Shah Rukh Khan, who was last seen in Raees, has been one of the top stars of Bollywood and he defied the notion of TV stars being unsuccessful in films. He has remained in the top 10 list of successful actors in the past couple of decades and continues to earn accolades for his performances.
