Rishi Kapoor Sahab in a heart-to-heart conversation with Bollywood Hungama‘s Content Head Broadband Faridoon Shahryar speaks about his book ‘Khullam Khulla’. He speaks about the forward written by Ranbir Kapoor. Rishi Sahab also talks about the choice of films made by Ranbir and why he finds Jagga Jasoos marvellous.
How do you react to the foreword of Khullam Khulla that has been written by Ranbir? He’s an actor himself, he finds that there’s no one else in same league as Rishi Kapoor.
Well he’s a man of few words and I am surprised he has made this kind of statement when I read it the first time. Theek hai bachcha hai apna, apne baap ki taareef ki hai, so what? Thank you Ranbir for saying that, those lovely thoughts and words about me.
Yeah! He’s a gutsy actor. He has told his mother main jo kaam karunga tirchi topi ko seedha kar do, basketball aur sab jo Shah Rukh Khan sahib ne ki hui thi woh main nahi karna chahta, main koi 40 dancers piche wali picture nahi karna chahta. Main woh movies karunga jo mere age group ke hai unpe aadhaarit ho. That’s why his choice in films was off the arc. Wake Up Sid, Rocket Singh, Barfi, Tamasha, unme se koi movies chalengi koi nahi, har actor ke saath hota hai, kisika 100% record nahi hota. What I credit him for is to make brave choices to be in such films. Mere dost, mere brothers kehte the, kya ho gaya isko? He’s committing suicide. Ek picture karta hai and us picture mein bhi he’s doing a film called Rocket Singh, Barfi – jisme woh goonga hai, na bol sakta hai, na sun sakta hai, yeh arty hero banker reh jaayega. Mujhe bhi fikar hoti thi but nahin bolta tha main because Ranbir makes his creative choices himself. I do not interfere anything in that. I was wondering why he’s doing such films but then Ranbir proved us all wrong. Barfi became super-hit and he proved us wrong.
Now Jagga Jasoos…
Jagga Jasoos is a very enjoyable film for children as well as adults. I’ve seen portions of it and I think it’s marvellous.
Promo has been getting a very good response…
I’ve seen it in bits and pieces. It’s not because Ranbir is in the film, on the contrary I am particular about films. I’ve not seen Jagga Jasoos in totality, can’t say how the film can be. It has got a lot of music. What I am saying is what I liked about Ranbir is choosing very brave films to work in, easy kya hota hai stardom ke liye kya hota hai ke ek do movies karo, sure shot jo hoti hai na, 40 dancers, maar dhaad wali movies which keeps you in safe zone. He didn’t want to do that.
