While we have already received a glimpse of their quirky and adorable chemistry in the endorsement that they have done together, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are now all set to be paired together on the big screen. Though there have been several speculations in the past about the forthcoming films featuring this couple, this time around, it is for a Zoya Akhtar directorial titled Gully Boy.
Almost a year ago, we had reported that Zoya Akhtar is contemplating on making a film about Mumbai based street rappers, inspired from real life. The director had been quite gung-ho about the project and that Ranveer Singh will topline the star cast. However, a couple of months ago, there was buzz about Varun Dhawan replacing him. But now it seems that all of these rumours have been put to rest and adding another name to the leading cast of the film is that of Alia Bhatt.
From what we hear, besides Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani who will step in as producers for the film with their banner Excel Entertainment, it is also Zoya Akhtar who will kick start her new production banner Tiger Baby with Gully Boy. The film is said to go on floors in November this year.
As of now, the cast is busy with their other commitments. While Ranveer Singh has dedicated all his time and energy to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next magnum opus Padmavati, Alia Bhatt is gearing up for the release of Badrinath Ki Dulhania after which she has to also focus on Ranbir Kapoor starrer Dragon. Besides the two, we hear that she has also signed a woman-centric project.
