Set against the backdrop of rustic and rural India, the Hindi adaptation of the William Shakespeare play Othello, the Ajay Devgn starrer Omkara went on to earn several accolades for its powerful performances. One amongst them that stood out was the antagonist act of Langda Tyagi aka Saif Ali Khan who too won several awards for the film. Now, in the new age of spin-offs, reportedly, the makers are planning on cashing in on his popularity by creating a film that revolves around the past of Langda Tyagi.
From what we hear, the details are currently being worked on and the spin-off film is said to be in the initial stages of development. Latest news reports claim that there are many varied plots to the story as the makers are still discussing on the flow of the narrative. However, it has been learnt that the focus will be on how Langda Tyagi became the character that he is.
It has been learnt that the writers of Omkara, Abhishek Chaubey and Rohit Bhatt will be working on the spin-off along with Vishal Bhardwaj in order to develop the storyline of the film. Apparently, Saif Ali Khan too has given a nod to the film but an official announcement on the same is yet to be made.
Readers may be aware that Konkana Sen Sharma played the wife of Saif Ali Khan in Omkara. Besides the trio, the film also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Bipasha Basu in prominent roles.
