Shah Rukh Khan became the romance king of Bollywood after romancing Kajol in the eternal, Diwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The actors left the audience in awe and Aditya Chopra became of one of the finest debutante directors to bring this love story to the big screen. Till date, the film is running at Maratha Mandir theatre and it has already completed 1200 weeks.

On October 19, DDLJ completed 23 years and the fans celebrated the anniversary on social media. Seeing the love and affection the film keeps on receiving with each passing year, both Raj and Simran aka Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol took to twitter to thank the fans are keeping their love story alive on big screen for 1200 week. SRK wrote, “A special journey that began 23 years ago, goes on even today. Your love has kept Raj & Simran’s story alive on the big screen for 1200 weeks non-stop. Thank u for falling in love with us so unconditionally for so many years! #23YearsOfDDLJ.”

Kajol also expressed her gratitude and wrote, “1200 weeks and still running! thank you all for all the love that you have been showering on Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge for so many years! It was, it is and will always be an incredibly special film for all of us.”

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge marked the debut of Aditya Chopra as a director. The film won several accolades that year with 10 Filmfare Awards including Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director in 1996.
