USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…It was meant to be a harmless, though naughty, pun on a dog. However, with self-proclaimed social activists, animal welfare committees and moral crusaders likely to take their jobs a bit too seriously, there has been a change in plan for Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum. Resultantly, one of the funniest characters in the film, a pug, has gone through a change of name.
"In the film Riteish's character is shown to have a steady companion in the form of a pug named 'Fakhruddin'. Though the name was widely publicised and even mentioned in the promos, it has gone through a change. Now his name has been abbreviated to 'Fakhru'. This has been done as Fakhru sounds more cute and to avoid community leaders from making a mountain out of a mole-hill," informs a source.
There is a clear significance behind the move. Since Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum is a 'naughty' comedy, the pug bears his name due to its high breeding skills. Of course it doesn't require much imagination to know how the name 'Fakhru' bears relevance in this context.
"Though writer-director Sachin Yardi felt that it was all in good humor and completely harmless, the Balaji team decided to play safe," the source said while adding, "These days some people end up protesting against non-issues and make a nuisance of themselves. Unfortunately the legal framework in the country is so archaic that such complaints get accepted."
Sachin saw the reason here and felt that it wouldn't make much difference to the film's plot. The only change would be introduced for Riteish Deshmukh who needs to ensure that the abridged name doesn't result in any issues during dubbing.
"That's okay, we will manage that. Better to take care of such technicalities instead of facing major issues around the film's release. Fakhru is an extremely important character in the film other than Riteish and Tusshar. He is, in fact, the third hero of the film," quips Sachin. He adds, "A little change in name is okay; we have many more weapons waiting to be unleashed."
We would want to see that on Thursday, August 2, when the film releases worldwide.
