Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, several reports of violence against doctors from different parts of the country have been reported. A recent case of a young doctor from Assam being brutally beaten by relatives and friends of a patient who passed away has shook people.
Several people including celebrities have condemned the attacks on doctors. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan recently went live on Instagram to talk about this with Orthopedist Dr. Manan Vora. He condemned the violence against doctors and said that nothing can possibly justify such acts. “It’s an extremely serious issue and we really need to create awareness on this topic. The second wave has not been easy on anyone, I’ve had at least seven family members who got COVID during this phase and it’s very stressful for the family. So, I understand when it happens but it is unfair on doctors, who are treating you, who are there to cure you day and night, to go through this,” he said while talking to Dr. Vora.
