CHENNAI: Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan stated Thursday that he does not wish to move the Supreme Court as of now simply because he hopes to get a good outcome for his film “Vishwaroopam”.
“I still have hope issues might be resolved with Tamil Nadu government. For now, I might wait prior to moving to Supreme Court,” stated Kamal.
On Jan 30, a Madras HC bench chaired by Justice Dharma Rao re-imposed the ban on the movie and nullified the revocation of an earlier ban around the film by Justice K. Venkataraman on Jan 29.
The final hearing around the case is due February six.
The Rs 95 crore espionage thriller was initially scheduled to release in Tamil & Telugu on Jan 25, but each day prior to the screenings, the Tamil Nadu government imposed a two-week ban around the film after some Muslim groups complained that some scenes within the film portrayed the neighborhood inside a poor light.
Kamal on Wednesday also agreed to reduce a couple of scenes that had been pointed out as controversial to him by his Muslim brothers.
“My Muslim brothers have pointed out couple of scenes in my film which I am prepared to reduce to be able to settle the matter in between us amicably,” stated Kamal.
Kamal, 58, described the ban as “cultural terrorism” and added: “Any neutral and patriotic Muslim will certainly really feel pride on seeing my film. It was developed for that objective.”
“Vishwaroopam” was also initially banned in locations like Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Malayasia.
Written, created and directed by Kamal, “Vishwaroopam” attributes him within the title function. Other members from the cast consist of Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapur and Jaideep Ahlawat. Its Hindi version “Vishwaroop” is slated to release Friday.
