Gone are the days when film makers would only make their films in the Delhi and NCR. This year onward Maharashtra has become the new cool. It’s almost after two decades that Marathi milieu is back in vogue.

Not only are these films made in Maharashtra they also have the Marathi touch in the language and the culture and these films are being widely embraced by the audience.

And to make the milieu even more authentic, the makers are even getting actor’s from the Marathi film industry on board.

Releasing next week Phantom’s Hunterrr is a small quirky coming of age film which revolves around an unassuming sex addict called Mandar Ponkshe and his lustful journey in life. The film has been extensively shot in Pune, Bamnoli and Bombay. To add to that two of the most renowned Marathi actresses Radhika Apte and Sai Tamankar will be seen playing pivotal roles.

While the film is still reeling in its success, Badlapur has been shot entirely in Nashik, Badlapur and Pune. Varun Dhawan who is the character Raghu has essayed the role of a Maharashtran guy for the very first time.

Katha (remake) the film stars Sohum Shah and Manish Paul in the lead roles. The film is being shot in real location in central Mumbai.

Hawaizada the film was about the unsung hero Shivkar Talpade who was the first person to fly a plane. The film has been shot I real locations across Mumbai.

Little detail needs to be told about Ab Tak Chappan 2 as the first film had got remarkable appreciation. Again it’s the journey to justice of the encounter specialist Sadhu Agashe played by Nana Patekar who has been appointed in Maharashtra.
