This had resulted in the businessman filing a legal case against Saif Ali Khan.

Even though the hearing of the case had been scheduled for April 6 this year, it had to be deferred because Saif was unable to appear. The next hearing is now on July 27.

Speaking about the case, Girish Kulkarni (Saif Ali Khan's lawyer) said that it was a compoundable aspect under Section 325, wherein a mediation is permissible with the permission of the court and that was why the court had suggested it. While Saif was ready for the same, the Public Prosecutor had also suggested the same to Iqbal Sharma (the complainant).

What also occurred was that during the month of March, following a complaint by Subhash Agrawal (RTI activist), the Union Home Ministry had asked the Mumbai Police to advance the report on the longtime pending alleged brawl between Saif Ali Khan and Iqbal Sharma. Subhash Agrawal had also demanded that the Home Ministry to take Saif Ali Khan's Padma Shri back from him.
