shahidkapoorHi,

Please find below story details for your perusal. Thank you!

Big B was the first actor to step into the small screen in 2000 with the very famous Kaun Banega Crorepati, which opened up a huge platform for several other Bollywood actors to try their hands in the glitzy Telly World.

After him, many senior actors like King Khan Shahrukh, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar appeared in varied shows on the television. Following their footsteps, many young B-town actors are seen making their debut on TV. Shahid Kapoor, Radhika Apte and Sonakshi Sinha are the few who have appeared on the small screen.

The newlywed heartthrob Shahid Kapoor will soon be seen judging the upcoming season of a celebrity dance reality show. The actor shared his excitement for the judging opportunity on a social networking website with a fellow judge.

A few years back TV as a medium was considered as a Ticket to Bollywood, although the scenario has slightly changed. This pushes us to think, what is it that is attracting these young Bollywood actors to make their TV debut now?

Actress Sonakshi Sinha has been judging a singing reality TV show and the happiness can be seen on the telecasted episodes of the show. Sona feels the small screen is not ‘small’ anymore. She recently quoted that, “It has a wider reach; people prefer turning to TV for entertainment because it’s as good as free, or includes hardly any cost except for the monthly subscription.”

Apart from being judges, we have actress Radhika Apte who will be seen in a TV show, Chokher Bali. Explaining why she decided to act in a TV show, Radhika says, “The character is powerful. To be part of a show that’s based on Rabindranath Tagore’s stories was interesting.”

While young B-Town actors feel that they get to reach out to a wider audience, TV channels opt for them as they add glamour to the show. “Actors who have worked in films for years shift to TV for better opportunities to probably cash in on their fan base, while taking home a hefty pay packet. While there is not much of a difference between the younger and the older stars in terms of their appeal, the makers perhaps aim to add a coolness quotient to the show by getting younger faces. People like Sonakshi or Shahid would always appeal to the younger audiences,” says a source.
