Interestingly the two super-celebrities share one thing in common. A small cozy home from which they have refused to move out over the years in spite of their growing families and enhanced affluence.

Lataji's 3-bedroom home in a high-rise building on Peddar Road becomes uncontrollably crowded during Ganesh Chaturvedi.

"Every year it's an open house at Lata Didi's place in Prabhu Kunj. Guests just stream in for a darshan. Everyone also wants a glimpse of Lata didi. It becomes difficult for her to attend to every guest. But this year Didi is in her element. She is bustling all over the house, in her beautiful hand-made sarees, enjoying the company of guests and of course the sweets. Who would believe she is 85?" says a member of the Mangeshkar parivar.

At Salman Khan's galaxy Apartment in Bandra Ganesh Chaturthi was a relatively subdued affair this year.

Says a source, "The stars were not so prominent. It was mostly a family affair. And that's the way Salman wanted it. As he grows older Salman is becoming more and more family-oriented. When he is not shooting he is at home spending time with his parents and his sisters, brothers and kids. On Wednesday for Ganesh Chaturthi Salman was specially quiet. Everyone noticed how little he spoke."

Another huge Ganesh Chaturthi celebration was witnessed at the residence of filmmaker J P Dutta and his wife Bindiya Dutta.

Said Bindiya Dutta, "We have the full 10 days of Ganpati Bappa in our home. It's the most important time of the year for us. This year our two daughters Nidhi and Siddhi did all the decoration. It's the one time of the year when we get to meet all our friends from the film industry."
