The story follows the road travels of a group of Delhi University students who set out on an adventure in pursuit of a magical form of the drug cannabis. Owing to the controversial subject matter several critics expressed doubt as to whether M Cream would ever secure an Indian release. International reporter Deborah Young of The Hollywood Reporter commented, '(the film's) industry bow at Goa's Film Bazaar offers no guarantee that two sex scenes and a modest bit of nudity will pass the Indian censors.'
When contacted by Bollywood Hungama, writer/director Agneya Singh stated, "We will be releasing the film with an 'A' certificate without any cuts. We did have a longer cut with more sexual material and drug use but we internally decided to submit the shorter cut to the censor board. However this is the same cut that has traveled to several international film festivals and it will be presented to audiences here at home in its original and unaltered form."
Featuring Imaad Shah, son of actor Naseeruddin Shah alongside Ira Dubey, Barry John, Raaghav Chanana, Auritra Ghosh and Tom Alter among others, M Cream that is slated to release on July 22 features songs by Shubha Mudgal, I.P. Singh from Faridkot, Srijan Mahajan of Parikrama, Nikhil Malik of Half Step Down and Arsh Sharma of The Circus.
