Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple of UK in Tividale village (England), which claims to be the “largest Hindu temple of its kind in Europe”, offers “Free of charge Matrimonial Service to help you find a suitable marriage partner”.
Registered Aspirants—Brides and Grooms—listed under its “Matrimonial Services” include doctors, software engineers, student studying animation, aircraft technician, dentist, pastry chef, fashion designer, television journalist, lawyer, research scientist, rail signaling engineer, nutritionist, psychiatrist, retired x-ray technician, mould maker, executive chef, etc.
Under its Going Green policy, this Temple, set in about 30 acres acquired in 1995, uses and accepts as donation “only organic” milk.
Various services temple provides include child’s naming ceremony, blessing new car (which includes putting fresh lemon underneath the car tyres and pray to god), “hair cutting ceremony” (children have their head shaved for the first time and the hair is offered to God), etc.
Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commended Temple for its efforts to help the community.
Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that the Temple would help in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.
Tividale village was created in 1878.
