Hindus have welcomed the idea of multi-faith Prayer Room in Orange Coast College (OCC) campus in Costa Mesa (California).

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, said that an interfaith space in the shape of Prayer Room would be a step in the positive direction for OCC. Many educational institutions in USA and Canada already had prayer/meditation room/chapel for quiet reflection and spiritual exercise.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out that with the presence of Prayer Room, OCC students would have a spiritually meaningful life in addition to material success after they graduated from here. Prayer Room would be another feather in OCC’s cap in making it a top class and wholesome community college.

Moreover, OCC needed to recognize the intersection of spirituality and education, Rajan Zed added.

OCC, founded in 1947 and spread in 164-acres, is one of the nation’s largest community colleges enrolling over 25,000 students and offering over 135 programs including acclaimed nautical program. Its Vision Statement includes “transforming lives through education” and Dr. Dennis Harkins is the President.
