The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Whole Foods Market are warning the public not to consume the Rolf’s Patisserie brand and Whole Foods Market brand Ginger Bread Houses described below because the product may be contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin.
 
Rolf’s Patisserie brand and Whole Foods Market brand Ginger Bread Houses, were purchased in a case pack of 4 (4x435g) and are sold assembled and plastic-wrapped in 435g packages bearing UPC 23680200000.
 
This product has been distributed in Whole Foods stores in Ontario.
 
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
 
Food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin may not look or smell spoiled. The toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria is not easily destroyed at normal cooking temperatures. Common symptoms of Staphylococcus poisoning are nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping and fever. In severe cases, headache, muscle cramping and changes in blood pressure and pulse rate may occur.
 
The importer, Whole Foods Markets, Toronto, ON, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace.  The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
