The members have demanded a response from the State Minister of Finance Morris Yel Akol on the reduction in the block transfer of 40,280,509 South Sudanese Pounds down from 61,496,666 South Sudanese Pounds.

They said the reduction does not correspond with the state’s high population.

The 2012/2013 budget proposed by the South Sudanese Minister to all the ten states of the Republic of South Sudan was officially presented before the state legislators Tuesday by the State Minister of Finance.

Western Bahr el Ghazal State has been allocated less funds compared to previous years.

Minister Akol admitted that the budgetary allocation was inadequate, bearing in mind the increase in population in the state.

“Following the independence of South Sudan last year Western Bahr el Ghazal State among other states has been receiving huge numbers of returnees, hence straining the available resources”, he said.

The members proposed that the national finance ministry visits the state to assess the high population’s demands for more funding.
