SPLM Secretary for Information and Culture Bol Makueng told the press in Juba that the continued attacks on South Sudan by Sudan’s army was a gross violation of UN resolutions.
“It is unfortunate the attacks continue even as negotiations are underway in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This is a major violation of a truce signed by the two sides”, he said.
Makueng added that SPLM had agreed to comply with the UN and the African Union’s resolutions towards peace between the two neighbouring countries.
His call echoed sentiments calling for complete withdrawal of Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) from disputed borders with South Sudan.
There is a heavy presence of SAF in Abyei despite an assurance by Sudanese president Omar al Bashir that he will withdraw his forces from the area.
