The delegation led by a member of SPLM Political Bureau Awut Deng Achuil aimed at delivering a message from the President of the Republic of South Sudan ahead of the first Independence Anniversary celebrations on July 9.
Achuil conveyed President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s message thanking the people of Yei County for their support to the SPLA/M during the liberation struggle and the Southern Sudan Referendum.
“All the SPLA/M leaderships were established in Yei, The Late Dr John Garang and all the SPLM high command stayed in Yei at some point”, said Achuil. “Yei is a historical place”, she added.
Achuil also said that the President was concerned with the economic crisis in the country after the shutdown of oil production early this year.
She added that the President has called for the unity of all people in order to attain development in the infant nation.
Achuil was accompanied by members from the State and National Legislative assemblies during the tour.
