Upon arrival from a trip to China, Governor Joseph Bakosoro urged parents and school administrators to provide a better learning environment for the students.

A science school named after the governor was opened in Yambio as a reminder of his fight against illiteracy in the state.

The Minister of General Education and Instruction Michael Pia said that the ministry is creating opportunities to improve the education system as more than 80 primary school teachers underwent a four month training at Yambio County Education Center (CEC) supported by World Vision.

Yambio County Education Center Administrator Hosea Nyamuyo Enosa acknowledged the support the center is getting from both the state government and other partners.

The “Go to School” project initiated by the state governor was adopted and implemented by all the ten commissioners in Western Equatoria.

To support such initiatives, the parliament of South Sudan passed the education bill to support literacy in the country.
