The attackers also made away with scores of herds of cattle. Hon. Cornelio Mawien Dhor, a national member of parliament representing the attacked area said the suspected rebels attacked on Friday evening.
“I heard last night (Friday) that fighting was tense in the area but up to now I have no detail,” said Mawien. Toby Akoon Monydhar, a citizen in the area said at least seven people were killed.
“They attacked the area in the evening at around 7:00pm. The rebels have killed seven people and four people are wounded,” said Akoon. “This is the first time our area came under attack in the evening. All wars fought earlier occurred mostly in the morning from 4: 00am.”
Last month, Lou Ariik was attacked by rebels. The previous attack left 46 people dead on the grounds and dozens more wounded.
Warrap state has become vulnerable to attacks by suspected rebel forces loyal to Dr. Riek Machar. The areas of the state have been attacked more than five times now.
