Fighting erupted on Saturday morning leaving 3 people dead and several others injured.
The local communities residing in Kangi and Ale-Thony payams are fleeing into the neighboring states of Warrap and Aweil for fear of their lives.
Jur River county commissioner John Arap said the situation is under control, adding that security forces were deployed in a bid to prevent further revenge killings.
He also confirmed that the killer of the paramount chief was arrested alongside other culprits who were involved in the incident.
A resident of the area who spoke to Gurtong on conditions of anonymity said that despite the presence of security in the area people are still fleeing to other states.
“Despite the heavy presence of security forces in the areas, many local youths from both communities ofTuba and Pukun are in the forest hunting for one another forcing elders and children to flee into bushes and neighboring states of Warrap and Northern Bahr el Ghazal.”
Commissioner John Arap strongly condemned the killing of the paramount chief and called for immediate investigation.
