Yesterday’s potentially dangerous episode when a man carry a gun was caught near Rahul Gandhi is the third major security breach of the year, raising a big question mark on the security arrangements around important personalities.

A young man carrying a gun was caught by Special Protection Group as he came close to Rahul Gandhi near Ram Leela ground in his constituency. His gun was not loaded but the cartridges were found from the young man’s pocket.

Two similar incidents occurred earlier in the year on May 12 in Noida and July 17th in Aligarh

District SP Vijay Singh Meena told the media that Rahul Gandhi stopped his vehicle seeing a crowd of locals waiting for him at a crossing. When he was shaking hands with the people and talking to them, a youth carrying an application moved close to him.

The youth who had the gun tucked in his waist was identified by SPG men who first trounced him and then handed him over to the police authorities.

SP Vijay Singh also revealed that the young boy is named Pradeep Soni. He is a jeweler by profession and runs a shop in a close by market. His gun was a licensed gun which according to him he bought only after his brother and father was murdered four months ago.
