Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Tun Najib Razak expressed that the government aims to produce thinking students by investing in educational transformation so that the new generation is able to adapt to continuously changing environments.

He further said that the system of education must be changed in the sense that if students were already taught the concepts of “what”, they should now be taught on the lines of “how” to improve their analytical skills and knowledge which can help them better in their future lives and contribute towards development of the economy on the whole.

He shared his thoughts with the public on the occasion of the launch of “i-Think”.

He said, “We want students to be innovative, analytical, be able to adapt to crisis, throw ideas, think out-of-the-box and solve problems. We need to prepare our young with thinking skills because the future will certainly be different. In order to hone such skills among our young, we will change teaching and learning methods in schools because we want our students to excel.”

Explaining further he said that the program was implemented in 10 schools in the country so far, which has shown positive results and therefore it will now be included in the curriculum of about 1,000 more schools throughout the country.
