The government made an announcement on Friday informing that six new state ministers and five new federal ministers are being added to the cabinet, making the aggregate number of ministers in the cabinet cross 50.

The government has brought back all the offended ministers that it had slashed during the past one year, firstly in a state of austerity and secondly due to the 18th amendment. The oath taking ceremony of the new ministers took place in the presence of the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on Friday in Islamabad. The measure has been identified as a desperate attempt by the government of PPP to ensure friendly ties within the party itself as the ministers who suffered were not happy with the government due to their reduced share in the cabinet.

New federal ministers taking the oath to serve the country included Qamar Zaman Qaira, Farzana Raja, Nazar Gondal, Rana Farooq Saeed, and Raja Pervez Ashraf. Malik Azmat Khan, Moazzam Ali Jatoi, Raheela Baloch, Tasnim Ahmed Qureshi, Syed Samsam Ali Bokhari, Malik Ahmed Khan, and Abbas Khan Afridi swore in as ministers of the state.

One of the members of the coalition partners of PPP informed the media that they were not taken into confidence before the decision of the cabinet expansion was finalized.
