President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has announced formation of a committee consisting of six members to work solely on the agenda of restoration of security in Karachi as the violence incidents in the city are increasing by the minute.

The President proposed the establishment of the committee in a meeting of senior party leaders on Monday and expressed that the committee will work only on the motive of securing the city of Karachi and that can only be done if all political parties in the city work towards the goal. He said that the level of lawlessness and the height of killings in the city are raising serious concerns for the security of the entire country.

He said, “If the three political parties – the PPP, MQM and ANP – join hands in Karachi, there is no reason why we cannot confront and defeat the menace of lawlessness and targeted killings in the metropolis.”

With the latest violence streak in the city, gunmen have killed another five individuals in various parts of the city. Dozens of people have been declared dead in target killing in the previous month in Karachi with countless families losing a working-head.
