A Singaporean, Zulkifri Said, 23, who was an unemployed man found guilty of having sex with a 13-year-old girl in the court on Friday. He was jailed for three and half years for having sex, breaking and entering into a church.
On March 4, Said confessed that he broke into the Calvary Bible Presbyterian Church in Toa Ching Road with Muhammad Herwan Abdul Hamzah, 22, and stole the property of worth $1,470.
Herwan was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison.
Zulkifri and the 13 years old girl knew each other at the time of the offence, through online social site Facebook in March 2010.
They became a couple shortly after and were in a relationship for eight months. They had unprotected sex at HDB staircase landings on two occasions in Toa Payoh and Jurong.
They remained friends and would occasionally meet each other. It was heard in the court that in November 2010, the couple met and had sex on a staircase landing at a Housing Board block in Toa Payoh. Then, in February 2011 they met again and spent the night at Zulkifri’s house.
The next day, the minor followed him to another staircase landing in Jurong, where they had unprotected sex again.
Few days later the couple had a fight after which the young girl took an unidentified number of pills. The girl was then admitted to the hospital and a social worker reported the underage sex case to the police.
