A recent poll suggests Liberal National Party (LNP) leader Campbell Newman still beats the rival Labor MP Kate Jones for the seat of Ashgrove, although his fame has dished a little.

The survey incorporated opinions of 500 people living in the Brisbane seat of Ashgrove yesterday evening by the company Reachtel. According to the results, 53.5 per cent planned to vote for the opposition leader, the Seven Network reported. The number has fallen by 1.3 per cent since the previous poll, but was still far ahead of the 36.8 per cent of respondents who claim to vote for current Labor MP Kate Jones.

Reportedly, Ms Jones’s rating has climbed by 1.8 per cent. The poll has emerged after a series of leaks about Mr Newman’s private funds over the past month which led to Deputy Premier Andrew Fraser referring him to the Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC).

Newman says, “I’m hoping that the Premier and her people can start to act like decent human beings and fight this campaign on matters of policy rather than personality.”
