It is believed that on the evening of Friday, March 11, 2011, two rooms were rented at a downtown hotel under aliases and using a fraudulent credit card.
On Saturday, March 12, 2011, fraudulent purchases were allegedly made at several businesses in south Calgary, also using counterfeit credit cards.
Several cash advances were also allegedly made using counterfeit credit cards at casinos throughout the Calgary area.
Based on the investigation, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Macleod Trail S.W. around 6:30 p.m., on Saturday, March 12, 2011. Four individuals were arrested.
At that time, officers seized 47 counterfeit credit cards, eight counterfeit driver’s licences and $16,000 in cash. Police continue to investigate where the credit card numbers were stolen from.
Four people are facing a total of 28 fraud-related charges including conspiracy to commit fraud and proceeds of crime:
Wendy Hung, 33, of Vancouver, B.C.
Kelvin Kwongyan Mah, 38, of Vancouver, B.C.
Edwin Shek Yin Cheng, 38, of Vancouver, B.C.
Wing Wa (Nick) Tsoi, 27, of Richmond, B.C.
