Codiac RCMP is warning the public about a home maintenance scam that has recently been reported in the Greater Moncton area. The suspect knocks on the door of a residence and offers to provide services such as cleaning or repairing the roof or attic of the home. The suspect advises the victim that there is damage to their home and offers to complete some of the work immediately. The victim is then asked to pay a large sum of money upfront in order to guarantee services. After completing a small portion of the work, the suspect leaves and does not return to complete the work. Victims are then unable to reach the suspect.

Investigators believe the suspect is primarily targeting senior citizens. The RCMP would like to remind the public to be wary of purchasing services offered through door-to-door solicitation unless they are familiar with the provider.
