Toronto police officer Robert Harris charged with careless use of his gun

A Toronto Police Service officer has been arrested and charged.

Constable Robert Harris, 27, with two years and seven months’ service, is currently attached to 31 Division.

On Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 11:18 p.m., officers were trying to arrest a man for Dangerous Driving in the Rivalda Road area.

It is alleged that:

– while attempting to arrest the driver of the vehicle, the accused discharged two rounds at the vehicle.

– both rounds struck the vehicle.

There were no injuries as a result of the firearm discharge.

On the evening of Monday March 28, 2011, the accused surrendered to police and was charged with:

– Careless Use of a Firearm.

He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 2 p.m., room 505.
