Gregory Sappleton and Nigel David Manning charged with robbery, Toronto

On Sunday, October 10, 2011, at 1:15 p.m., police arrested two men in connection with a robbery investigation.

It is alleged that:

– on Sunday, April 10, 2011, both accused, one armed with a gun, went to a restaurant in the Eglinton Avenue East/Dufferin Street area,

– the accused men demanded money from the owner,

– a quantity of money was turned over to both men,

– both accused fled the scene and were arrested,

– police seized a quantity of money and a loaded .45 calibre handgun.

Gregory Sappleton, 25, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Robbery while armed with firearm,
2) Pointing a firearm,
3) Possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order,
4) Possession Property obtained by Crime,
5) Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
6) Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
7) Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition,
8) Possess firearm knowing the serial number has been altered, defaced or removed,
9) Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

Nigel David Manning, 24, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Robbery while armed with firearm,
2) Possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order,
3) Possession Property obtained by Crime,
4) Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
5) Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition,
6) Possess firearm knowing the serial number has been altered, defaced or removed,
7) Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

They were scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue East, on Monday, April 11, 2011, room 306, at 10 a.m.
