Ferhat Assam charged with sexually assaulting a TTC passenger

On Thursday, May 12, 2011, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release with a security camera image of a man wanted in a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

− on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 4:55 p.m., a man boarded a TTC streetcar at Spadina subway station
− the man went to the rear of the streetcar where he sexually assaulted a woman

The suspect is described as 6′, 35−45, with a tan complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, white jacket, thin rimmed glasses and grey pants.

On Friday, May 13, 2011, Ferhat Assam, 54, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Five counts of Sexual Assault.

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Saturday, May 14, 2011, room 111, at 10 a.m.
