On June 2, 2011, at 11:30 a.m., members of the Bathurst detachment of the RCMP received a report of a two-year-old boy who had gone missing from his family’s backyard, in South Tetagouche, N.B.

The boy had been outside playing with the family dog, when his parents noticed he was no longer in the yard.

Police officers from the RCMP in Bathurst and Belledune, as well as the Bathurst Police Force were quickly deployed to the area. A neighbour also assisted in the search. The boy and his dog were found a short time later in the woods, about one kilometer from home. The boy spent a total of about an hour in the woods. He was in good health when found, despite suffering numerous bug bites. He was taken to hospital for evaluation.

Members of the Miramichi Police Force, as well as the RCMP helicopter and J Division Police Dog Service were also called to respond, but the boy was found before their arrival.
